Import Data
Bring in your factories, clients and products from a spreadsheet, and fix the rows the import flags.
You don't have to type your factories, clients and products one by one. Fill in a spreadsheet and import it; the import tells you which rows need fixing.
Before you start
- Import in this order: products' groups and units (if you use your own), then factories, clients and products.
- Keep a copy of your spreadsheet. A failed row can be fixed and imported again; the rows that worked are not imported twice.
Import, step by step
- Open Data Import and click New.
- Choose what you import: Supplier for factories, Customer for clients, Item for products.
- Choose Insert New Records and save.
- Click Download Template, pick the columns you need (the Factory Profile, Destination and Carton Packing columns are in the list) and download it as Excel or CSV.
- Fill in one row per record, keeping the header row.
- Attach your file and click Start Import.
- Read the result: imported rows show as done; each failed row says why, for example a missing category or an unknown country. Fix them and import again.
What each import holds
| Import | Main columns |
|---|---|
| Factories | Name, kind (factory, trading company or workshop), province, city, industrial cluster, main categories, MOQ note, lead time, WeChat ID, 1688 or Alibaba page, export licence, rating, last audit date |
| Clients | Name, destination country, destination port, importer registration, Egyptian importer tax ID (for Egypt) |
| Products | Code, name, group, unit, HS code, SABER regulated, pieces per carton, carton CBM, gross and net weight |
A factory with several main categories takes one extra row per category, with only the category filled.
Good to know
- A product's carton net weight must be at most its gross weight; the import flags rows that aren't.
- Ratings are out of five stars.
- After importing clients, add their buyers as portal users. See Client Portal Guide.
